Not exactly a rant this week, cause I'm not angry, just... puzzled.
I rather liked the concept of Hanzou's powers - him being a poisonous being, and the weird gaz mask fashion for rain ninjas being explained... But I really don't get Kishimoto's characterization of Hanzou. I mean, he just keeps switching between "I'm a fucking NINJA and true ninjas make a living out of the fine art of backstab" and "I am a proud, honorable warrior determined because I have faith!".Guess which part has me frowning in confusion.
I mean, is it supposed to be the same Hanzou who had bodyguards all around his house and eliminated Yahiko's Akatsuki mercilessly?
The poison thing iscreepy as hell ♥ totally ninja-badass and it makes sense with what we already knew about Hanzou (a guy with that sort of abilities would have to become crazy-prepared).
But. COULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THE BACKSTABBING AND THE SWORD/SAMURAI-ISH BABBLE ARE SUPPOSED TO FIT TOGETHER. I just don't get it. >__>

Also yeah, Team 10 VS Asuma. With Asuma actually encouraging them against him.Boooring.
Shikamaru screaming at Chouji sounded weird to me. Borderline OOC - I mean, I can make some sense out of it (what with Shikamaru being a brat and pretending to be cool and mature when he really isn't), but. Well. Once again, Shikamaru and Ino seem to have switched their behaviors and roles in the team, and it's rather strange to have Shikamaru yell to motivate his friend while Ino acts quieter and more understanding.
(Though I like the fact that Ino gets some room to show she can be level-headed and YES SHE CARES ABOUT HER FRIENDS.Take that, haters.)
