CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'VE GOT A NEW FANDOM
What the fuck, self - you're not supposed to like TV shows! You're supposed to find them boring, with too little character development and bad screen writing and you're not supposed to get the humor and-
Oh damn you Doctor Who. DAMN YOU.
Now because I've seen this review on the weeping angels and I became curious, I went and watched the three episodes they're in, and I just got hooked, and now I've watched season 5 and I'm watching season 3.
Without subtitles. AND I CAN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND A THIRD OF WHAT THEY SAY BECAUSE OF THE DAMN BRITISH ACCENT. *sob*
Damn you Doctor Who. Damn you.
Your screen play is awesome, your fantasist world just works, your villains give me the creeps without being over-the-top monsters or spreading gore on the screen, the doctor is irresistible and the angels were wonderfully scary.
Also season 3 has a black character I genuinely find interesting! That's so rare, I'm ridiculously hyped up about Martha ~
She is a black woman, and those two things are the least relevant parts of her character: she has aspirations, a strong personality, a level head full of common sense and efficiency, and she has family issues but she still loves her people and works things out. The fact that she's black and might be confronted with racism is handled in the show, but not shoved down our throats either. In short, she's a well-written black person, and also a kickass female character.
AND I'M SO GLAD I WATCHED SEASON 5 FIRST AND SEASON 3 LATER BECAUSE I REALLY NEEDED TO WATCH A COMPETENT FEMALE CHARACTER AFTER AMY POND. *headdesk*
...On a less positive note, though, WHY ARE YOUR OTHER FEMALE CHARACTERS SO FRUSTRATING?
Yeah, I know, every time I pick up a new show I end up screaming bloody murder at some characters, and they almost always are female. AND YOU KNOW WHAT- I'M GONNA KEEP RANTING ANYWAY.
Because having your main female character be as ridiculously incompetent and annoying as Amy Pond should be a crime.
Because I'm SICK of hearing women scream like squirrels on crack on a broken record.
Because I'm fed up with women being so RIDICULOUSLY OVER-THE-TOP in their being emotional that they do idiotic shit that goes against all basic common sense and self preservation.
GUESS WHAT WRITERS - ESTROGENS do NOT prevent the growth of brains, and having emotions is NOT the same as behaving like a raving madwoman completely unable to think up the consequences of her actions.
...Next time you feel like writing an incompetent idiot, AT LEAST giveme your watchers the satisfaction of seeing someone else SLAP THEM for their stupidity.
