I swear, someday I'm gonna invest in a voodoo doll.
THIS. And/or THIS.
A load of crap indeed.
As
sakoni said, "You're a woman so AT LEAST make some children!"
This makes ROAR and SHRIEK like you have no idea.
Not just because it is shown - after all, it still does exist in reality, and Naruto's world has never been a free, equality-run society, far from it.In fact, I find all those creepy mentalities interesting to deal with in RP. No, what makes me so mad is the way it is shown.
Because, yeah, let's be honest. Kurenai's ultimate role in the story?
FAILING AT FIGHTING, STAYING HOME WHILE HER BOYFRIEND FIGHTS EVIL AND HAVING A BABY TO ALLOW SAID MAN'S LEGACY TO LIVE ON.
(And then having said baby bound to another male character before it's even born. Of course a woman can't give a child a proper role-model, they need a MAN to become a proper person! Even a self-centered, immature 14-year-old boy is better than an adult woman!)
And yes, to me, it feels like the author endorses this crap.
So yeah.
INSERT. ROARING. AND SWEARING. AND SHRIEKING. AND CURSING THE AUTHOR WITH A VOODOO DOLL.
This sort of bullshit always hits home with me.
Because yes I do have a vagina, and yes I identify as a she.
And no I don't want to settle for "different" goals because of that - you know what? "Different" only means inferior. It means less considered, it means a job behind the scenes, it means a job no one calls a proper job . It means as a woman I'm supposed to settle for caring for others and support them, while men get to do the actual things.
A load of crap indeed.

Well, fuck. Maybe I'm just selfish. I don't know - and frankly, I don't care.
I live for myself, and myself only. Supporting others -especially a man - is not my ultimate goal in life. It's nowhere close to my list of priorities.
And the sheer idea of being pregnant or having a baby of my own makes me cringe.
And seeing this mentality taught to teenage boys in mangas makes me want to break someone's neck.
