So I've been watching Extreme Ghostbusters (or at least what I could find on youtube) and now I got started on W.I.T.C.H. and I've been terribly disappointed.
I really liked Extreme Ghostbusters as a kid, and the W.I.T.C.H. comics had left a rather good impression, but really, these cartoons left me awfully frustrated. The pace. THE PACE. Or rather the lack thereof. Seriously, there was absolutely NO building of tension, of suspense, of emotion, of ANYTHING in Extreme Ghostbusters. And W.I.T.C.H. pretty much butchers what I remember of the comics by cutting the setting and background of the characters out. Events kept rushing one after another, without any work on the pace of the story. It feels as if the scenarists only wanted to put as many as they could in one episode.
I know japanimation has a tendency to make things longer and put fail!dramatic tension with everything going still and characters babbling forever, but damn, there must be a middle ground somewhere! Some cartoons manage just fine, without looking like japanimation either - go take a look at Kid Paddle for instance. >__>

Also, I can't really speak for W.I.T.C.H. yet, but Extreme Ghostbusters had absolutely NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT whatsoever. Seriously guys, I know this cartoon is OLD, but Japanimation manages to put some in 13-episode-long series, and they couldn't get the tiniest bit in 40 episodes?

As for W.I.T.C.H., it's lucky I watched Legend of the Seeker before, or it would easily get the award of the poorest beginning ever. My memories of the comics are vague, but I'm pretty sure that it was more Will-centric, which allowed us to see her arrive to her new town, and have some setting around the 5 heroines.
Cedric's transformation are SO over-dramatic. What is he supposed to be, a magical girl? Also, WHY THE HELL doesn't Hayleen's grandma have white hair in the anime?! I'm pretty sure they were white in the comics, and it just look weird and stupid, damnit. She's her GRANDMOTHER, not her mom. (Seriously, at first I thought she was her mom instead. Tsssk.)
