Comics-related question

Hey F-list!
As I might have already mentioned to some of you, I fell into a new fandom lately: the Young Justice cartoon.
And my new addiction has an awesome anon-meme (
yj_anon_meme) with a lot of awesome prompts... some of which involve characters from other DC universe works.
It led me to the scene of Jason's death in Under the Red Hood on youtube, which led me to watching Under the Red Hood (which is even more awesome than YJ), which turned me into a rabid Jason fangirl, and then there were these prompts about the batfamily and this picspam about Damian and Colin Wilkes...
Long story short, I'm considering getting started on some comics.
Problem is, I don't know how comics work: what formats exist, how expensive they are, where to buy, which series are worth it...
So I really could use some advice here. Please, f-list?
Info dump:
I'm only buying paper copies.
I don't like old-style comic art with flat colors and all. Unless it is really slashable or has awesome character arcs, I probably won't buy it.
I'm totally okay with English versions and/or buying online with paypal.
I'm also totally okay with buying second-hand comics, in English or in French. If someone has some good addresses around Paris and can show me around, I might come and spend an afternoon or two shopping together.
As far as stories or characters go, I'm interested in everything with Jason Todd in it, the comic version of Young Justice, and the series in which Damian and Colin meet.

Ah! I think at least I could help with this? There is Album, at the intersection of Boulevard Saint-Michel/Boulevard Saint-Germain/Rue Dante. And a few more comics shops around the corner Rue Dante. A bit further along the Boulevard Saint-Germain : Éditions Déesse, rue Cochin. And in another arrondissement altogether, Librairie Deconinck (sp?
damn you Flemish names and your funky spelling, and I say this as a Nordiste myself), Rue de la Croix-Nivert.All of these do single issues and collected paperbacks, original American issues and French translations, oldies and new ones, brand new and second-hand.
And I was just planning to go there next week-end with
Theorically speaking, would a whole saturday comics-books-shopping-fever-trip do for you? More practically, within one or two weeks? or later, eg for springtime vacations?

This week-end is not okay because I'm sick, but week-end or vacation after that is okay, though I'd like to get the date in advance, to warn my family and plan the trip so I can travel cheaper and/or ask for staying the night at my uncle's.
Train tickets are expensiiiiive >__<(no subject)
